Karuppu Day 8 Box Office: Early Estimates Push Gross India Past ₹110 Crore

Karuppu Day 8 Box Office: Early Estimates Push Gross India Past ₹110 Crore

The social drama-thriller Karuppu, released on May 15, 2026, has marked a significant milestone at the Indian box office, with early estimates suggesting its Gross India collections have soared past the ₹110 crore mark within just eight days. This strong performance underscores the film's initial connect with audiences as it navigates its crucial second week in cinemas.

According to early reports as of 10:30 PM IST, Karuppu is expected to collect approximately ₹5.30 crore on its eighth day, Thursday, May 22, 2026. This brings its estimated Net India total to an impressive ₹93.44 crore. Cumulatively, the estimated Gross India collection now stands at ₹110.26 crore. For our readers, Gross India represents total ticket sales before entertainment tax, while Net India reflects collections after these taxes, forming the basis for distributor shares.

The film's journey began with a respectable opening of ₹13.00 crore on Day 1 (May 15), then surged over its opening weekend. Day 2 saw collections jump to ₹19.00 crore, followed by its peak on Day 3 with an estimated ₹25.14 crore. As typical, weekdays brought a decline: Day 4 (Monday) saw ₹9.60 crore, continuing downwards through Day 5 (₹8.45 crore), Day 6 (₹6.99 crore), and Day 7 (₹5.96 crore). The current Day 8 figure of ₹5.30 crore, while a decline, indicates a reasonable hold for the start of the second week.

Karuppu concluded its first week with a strong estimated total of ₹88.14 crore Net India. While the film's budget figures remain undisclosed, its current performance of over ₹93 crore Net India in eight days positions it as a significant commercial success based solely on its domestic theatrical run, strongly hinting at profitability.

With a normal weekday decline, Karuppu's second weekend performance is crucial. Having crossed the ₹90 crore Net India mark, the immediate target is the coveted ₹100 crore Net India club, which appears highly probable. A strong theatrical run also significantly bolsters its negotiation power for OTT and satellite rights, promising further revenue streams. The overall verdict, currently 'Awaited', is strongly leaning towards 'Hit' or 'Super Hit' status.

BoxOfficeIndia24 Multiplex Data Analysis

Our internal analysis of the multiplex circuit provides a granular view of Karuppu's demand. Across the PVR and INOX chains, on Day 8, the film collectively sold 60,686 tickets across 131 theatres. Individually, PVR registered 38,631 tickets from 79 theatres and 396 shows, while INOX contributed 22,055 tickets from 52 theatres and 260 shows. Comparing this to yesterday's performance (Day 7), PVR had sold 40,647 tickets, showing a day-on-day decline of approximately 5% in footfalls. INOX, which registered 24,506 tickets yesterday, experienced a steeper drop of around 10%. The combined PVR+INOX footfalls decreased from 65,153 yesterday to 60,686 today, indicating a natural weekday dip in overall chain-level demand. While specific occupancy percentages are not yet available, the slight drop in per-screen average reflects the film settling into its second week. Advanced momentum will be crucial as it approaches its second weekend.

Karuppu has certainly made its mark, showcasing that compelling social dramas with thriller elements continue to resonate with the Indian audience. All eyes are now on its second weekend, which will be instrumental in determining its final lifetime collections and solidifying its place among the successes of 2026.
